This exam covers a variety of insurance topics you’ll need to know in order to become a successful insurance broker. While there’s a lot more to learn on the job or to upgrade your license, the stuff you’ll learn for the exam will cover the basics. You will be a tested on a variety of topics including: how insurance works, contract law, government regulations, risk management, property insurance (personal and commercial), bonds, legal liability, legal liability insurance, farm, marine & aviation insurance, accident and sickness/travel insurance, and automobile insurance The exam is 100 questions multiple choice and you need a 70% to achieve a passing grade on the exam. They give you 2 hours to write it. Roughly 60% of the exam is focused on Technical Skills and Risk Management, 20% on Ethics and Professionalism, and 20% on Industry Knowledge. With Technical Skills & Risk Management, they make up 60% of the exam and therefore 60 questions.
